​Some tips for Burnout Management:-​

  • Consider dropping down to 3 or 4 days a week. Those extra few days can make a real difference to your well-being. Many companies are supportive of part time work : it costs significantly more to replace you than to tweak your role : especially if you are well respected / loyal.
  • Offload to a work friend (but beware of frenemies!) or compose a letter to the source of your stress to get emotional thoughts out of your head.
  • Work away from your desk for a different perspective : coffee shop, park, rooftop (avoid home, work and personal separation is key)

Tips re coping​
  • ​Enquire re different responsibilities / dropping down to 3/2 days per week — bear in mind it costs SIGNIFICANTLY more for companies to replace you rather than tweak your role, especially if you’re well respected and talented.
  • Find a friend to offload to (beware of frenemies in the workplace!) — helps release frustration and despair / OR write a letter to the source of the stress to get the emotional thoughts off your chest.
  • Work away from your desk for a different perspective — coffee shop, park, rooftop etc - NOT home, you need to be separating work and home while you feel like this
  • Even though its easier said than done, aim to get plenty of sleep, exercise and eat sensibly - without this love and care how can you expect to rest and repair...

​Finding a release for your stress​:-

  • Find an activity that allows you to zone out of tints. you'll feel more lonely afterwards
  • Try not to see your loneliness as something you have to cure. Accept that this is you for now 
  • Even if it’s the last thing you feel like doing, call a friend up. Talk about how you feel. Or if that’s too heavy just call them up and talk about some fun memories you’ve shared, you just might make their day
  • Remember that everyone goes through shit. Even your beautiful, married friend who has identical model twins has days she feels like a bag of shit. Just for different reasons.
  • Write down 10 reasons you are grateful to be alive and look at this list at least once a day.

Self medicating our depression or anxiety:-

Life can be tough. And if we can create pockets of ‘peace’ or ‘fun’ why the hell shouldn’t we? A glass of wine here, a Valium there. What’s a muscle relaxant between friends anyway?

​​Many people who suffer with undiagnosed depression or anxiety reach for alcohol or drugs to calm their nerves or relieve them of emotional pain. In other words, they self-medicate. Rather than seek out help in managing depression, anxiety or chronic resentment, they seek their own solution — a solution which, while it works pretty well for a while, eventually complicates the issues and leads to more pain.
